Additional Information
In the 1990s I was working on my first orchestral piece, Nimbus, at Goildsmiths' College, London, with Peter Dickinson. After hearing a recording of Edgard Varèse's Arcana my whole musical outlook changed: I now wanted to find a way of constructing a huge wall of sound (in the Varèse sense, not Phil Spectre!). However, unlike Arcana, I wanted a language more in sympathy with a post-modern perspective, using non-referential tonality, repetition and blocks of sound. Streaming was born and Nimbus never saw the light of day. Writing Streaming changed my music irrevocably: I was on a new path and I turned my back on my past.
The title Streaming2 is used to distinguish this version from the earlier work. It is a second revision of the original and the engraving style was prepared using Dorico 6 notation software.
