Kaleidoscope was written in 2011 for the Bateira Trio, consisting of flute, viola and double-bass. The constantly changing patterns of the optical instrument are represented in sound, there being five short sections in an arch-like form, moving gradually from whole-tone to twelve-tone. The central point is a free semi-improvised section.
