Muriel's setting of Peter Abelard's David's Lament for Jonathan was composed in 1936, and heavily inspired musically by its medieval origins. The work wasn't published during her lifetime, but was performed by Muriel in a concert broadcast on 2.LO on 5 July 1938. It has since been published by BiblioFox Music Publishing and recorded by James Gilchrist and David Owen Norris.
