Additional Information
The title refers to the sketches by Herman Melville recalling his visit to the Galapagos Islands in 1841, but I wanted to evoke the atmosphere of enchantment hinted at by the Spanish name for these islands. The three movements are slow, quicker and slow. The percussion part is optional and the work may be performed from the full score or parts available as PDF files from the composer.
