Additional Information
Spiral is written for two violins.
This 'miniature' composition was written during lockdown and was inspired by lockdown; by memories of open spaces and the 'new reality' of confined spaces.
It is inspired by the confined spaces of the spiral structure of sea-shells; the spirals of coral found deep in the ocean; the open spaces of the steely-blue sea on cold crisp winter days and the spirals of seagulls as they descend and rise on the air currents.
The music explores the confined spaces between the melodic phrases, harmonies and the notes as they 'float' and 'spiral' weaving between the two violins.
It is exactly one minute long if played at 100 beats per minute.
Spiral is available as for performance, as a piece for solo piano with and without bass clef and as a teaching resource from: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spiral-music-for-two-violins-1288…
