Additional Information

At Sevens and Nines is a short work exploring aspects of musical discontinuity. The title is a play on the phrase ‘at sixes and sevens’ (defined by the Oxford Thesaurus of English as ‘chaotic’) but also a reference to the frequent seventh and ninth intervallic structures appearing throughout the work. The piece was written for the London New Wind Festival and first performed by their Festival Director, Catherine Pluygers.
