Tobías Álvarez is a British-Mexican composer and sound artist whose practice encompasses instrumental, electroacoustic, and multimedia work. His artistic interests span composition, sound creation, music technology, interdisciplinary collaboration, and musicological research. Drawing from personal memory, soundscape, poetry, and the textures of human experience, his work explores eclectic approaches to sound and form. Alongside his creative practice, he has worked extensively in artistic production, contributing to concerts, festivals, museum exhibitions, and cultural initiatives. 

As an academic, he has taught at university level and published research on music technology. His music has been presented internationally across Mexico, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. He has received international awards and grants from the Mexican government and collaborated with institutions including the Centre for Digital Arts, National Centre for Musical Research, Documentation and Information, UNAM Office of Cultural Outreach, and the University Museum of Contemporary Art. 

He holds a bachelor's with honors in Composition at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) having studied with Leonardo Coral & Gabriela Ortíz, and is currently studying a Master's degree in Composition at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Yannis Kyriakides & Trevor Grahl.
