Joanna Borrett is a composer and cellist. Several of her pieces are included in the ABRSM and Trinity College exam    syllabuses and she is a house composer at Kevin Mayhew.

Joanna’s first string orchestra work – Clan – was recorded by Her Ensemble in 2024  and chosen as Album of the Weekend by Magic Classical and Video of the Day by Gramophone. The third movement has been played on Radio 3's programmes Earlier and Classical Unwind and Clan has been performed at the investitures at Holyrood Palace.

The recording of Joanna’s song cycle – Moments of Freedom – came out inSeptember 2025 and this year Signum Classics is promoting three of Joanna’s most recent string orchestra pieces, all of which have been recorded by Her Ensemble. The first of these – Then – is being released on April 28th.
