Biography
13th March 1947 - 4th March 2022. Joseph Victor Conway. Studied at Trinity College London with pianist John Bingham; then London and Huddersfield Universities (Dame Janet Ritterman). As a composer he reacted against the prevailing "avantgarde-necessaire culture" that had established itself, preferring to "write tunes". Lived in Lincoln and then Peterborough, teaching piano (with his then wife) and music theory; wrote musical reviews for the Peterborough Telegraph and Cambridge Evening News. Latterly he formed a performing partnership with Sian-Elizabeth Rees (Soprano) and Stephen Lawrence (Tenor) to perform his vocal works - first at the John Masefield Festival in Ledbury in 2011 (Laureate in Love, Ophelia Sings); then followed other performances at St John's Church, Peterborough; Fotheringhay; Emmanuel URC, Cambridge.
