Streaming2 - engraved in cutaway style

Additional Information

In the 1990s I was working on my first orchestral piece, Nimbus, at Goildsmiths' College, London, with Peter Dickinson. After hearing a recording of Edgard Varèse's Arcana my whole musical outlook changed: I now wanted to find a way of constructing a huge wall of sound (in the Varèse sense, not Phil Spectre!). However, unlike Arcana, I wanted a language more in sympathy with a post-modern perspective, using non-referential tonality, repetition and blocks of sound. Streaming was born and Nimbus never saw the light of day. Writing Streaming changed my music irrevocably: I was on a new path and I turned my back on my past.

This is a revised version of that score and the title Streaming2 is used to distinguish from that earlier work. This engraving of the score was prepared May 1st 2025 in 'cutaway' style, using Dorico 6 notation software.
