Additional Information
Alula is a palindromic work that gradually teases out and then winds back in a single melodic idea. Each phrase springs up from a weighty open string and climbs ever higher away from the initial drone to the apex of the piece. The notes gradually give way to noise until the music begins to retrace its steps, taking the same road back to the start and curling in on itself till just the drone is left.
It was premièred by Daniel Pioro on 25 November 2016 at St Andrew Holborn as part of SOLO - more information is available at www.thisissolo.co.uk
