Bandstand Meditation
Originally, bandstands were structures inspired by Asian temples dedicated to meditation. By
paying attention to the relationship between the sounds of the environment and the sounds produced
by the musicians this work develops its own practice of listening to the self. Deep Listening
meditation and the practice of improvised music are involved to interlace the historical social
purposes of these kind of constructions with a contemporary concern about questioning the
structures and frameworks that surround us and shape our tools of perception.
With Ximena Alarcon, Angharad Davies and Artur Vidal.
Performed in London at the Springfield Park Bandstand on the 28th of September 2014.
