Biography
Lauren Redhead is a composer, organist and musicologist interested in aesthetics and socio-semiotics of music from the 20th and 21st centuries. She is currently a senior lecturer at Goldsmiths University of London. Lauren completed her PhD at the University of Leeds supervised by Derek Scott and Martin Iddon, using a practice-based approach to apply relational aesthetics to music. In her compositions, Lauren is interested in notation and materiality, using experimental approaches to creating scores and electronic materials. Her music has been performed at festivals such as the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the London Contemporary Music Festival and the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival. Lauren was supported by Sound and Music in 2014 on her tour with Alistair Zaldua. The tour (and CD) included collaborations with women composers for organ and live interactive electronics.
