Glen Johnson’s first recorded appearance can be traced to a Casio keyboard part on the ‘Durian Durian,’ album (Forced Exposure, 1992) by members of infamous Nottingham improv noiseniks, The A-Band. In 1996, moving to London, he founded the home recording project, Piano Magic, whose debut, ‘Wrong French,’ earned the favour of John Peel and Melody Maker magazine’s Single Of The Week accolade. By 2000, Piano Magic had become an international touring group, recording 2 albums for 4AD, the second of which notable for featuring the first recording in 30 years of long-lost folk doyenne, Vashti Bunyan. Further collaborations throughout the years included John Grant, Low, Dead Can Dance, The Apartments and Tarwater.

In 2007, Johnson teamed up with fellow Piano Magician, Cédric Pin, as Future Conditional for the 80’s electro-pop inspired, ‘We Don’t Just Disappear.' Johnson's debut solo album, ‘Details Not Recorded,’ was released in 2009, followed the same year by the cassette-only, ‘Institutionalized EP.'

In 2014, Johnson released a 3” postcard CD, ‘Same Sex' and featured prominently on the ‘Silver Servants’ eponymous album by a collective of artists from his own Second Language Music label. ‘My Heart Has Run Out Of Breath,’ an experimental electronica collaboration with visual artist, Kristina Pulejkova followed in 2015. Johnson called time on Piano Magic in December 2016 with an acclaimed final (twelfth) album, ‘Closure.’ He continues to run the Second Language Music label and to collaborate with Cédric Pin.
