Born in Southsea, Hampshire in 1953, Avril is a Composer and Music Educator. 

She studied at the Royal College of Music in London and the New England Conservatory. She has composed for orchestra, choir, chamber ensemble, solo instruments, and organ.

Anderson won a Cobbett Prize for her work.
